The weather is finally cooling off but the entertainment is still hot! There is lots to do in October in our area.
Starting Tuesday, September 29 and running through Sunday, October 4, Chorus Line will be at Belk Theater in Charlotte at various times. Also, on the theater front don't miss Return to the Forbidden Planet at the Old Courthouse Theatre in Concord. Shows are at various times October 1-11.
The middle of the month is every race lover's dream with multiple events taking place at Lowe's Motor Speedway from October 14-17.
On Saturday, October 24 choose from Dogs Day Out Pet Festival in Concord's Les Myers Park or the 26th annual Barbecue Festival in Lexington, NC.
The end of the month brings out the ghosts and goblins with Halloween on a Saturday this year. Trick or Treat.

Restaurant chain Moe's Southwest Grill plans to give away free burritos at 10 Charlotte-area locations all day today, Thursday, September 17, to introduce customers to one of its newest menu item.
Customers visiting the participating stores from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today can receive a free Joey Jr. burrito, a downsized version of the restaurant's Joey Bag of Donuts burrito that's still larger than the kids' size. It includes a choice of meat, fish or tofu; black or pinto beans; rice, pico de gallo, lettuce and shredded cheese wrapped in a warm tortilla.
In addition, the 5,000th customer will receive free Moe's for a year.

The annual Southern Women's Show in Charlotte, NC will take place at The Park (formerly the Charlotte Merchandise Mart) from Thursday, September 17-Sunday, September 20. The Cabarrus County Fair begins Friday, September 11 and runs through Saturday, September 19 at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center. As you can expect the fair will be packed with food, rides and games but there is much more than that too. Live entertainment will take place daily on the Independent Tribune stage. There are also daily presentations of chainsaw artistry, racing and swimming pigs and so much more. There are quite a few opportunities to get discounted or free admission this year including Sunday, September 13th from 1:00-3:00 p.m. when you can get in with a canned food donation. The Olde Countrie Faire is an important tradition at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Concord, NC. Held every other year, the Faire is all about reaching out to the people in our community. People donate items that are then sold at affordable prices. The proceeds are then returned to the community through various organizations such as CCM, Habitat for Humanity and the Community Free Clinic as well as International missions. This year's event will be held September 12, 2009 from 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. The Olde Countrie Faire will feature a luncheon, baked goods, books and records, tapes and CDs, flea market, barbecue, clothing, jewelry, crafts, a cash raffle, a bounce house, lighting and home furnishings from Carolina Rustica as well as both live and silent auctions. There will be something for everyone. All Saints' Episcopal Church is located at 525 Lake Concord Road.
